"There are two ways of lying, as there are two ways of deceiving customers. If the scale registers 15 ounces, you can say: "It's a pound." Your lie will remain relative to an invariable measure of the true. If customers check it, they can see that they are being robbed, and you know by how much you are robbing them: a truth remains as a judge between you. But if the demon induces you to tamper with the scale itself, it is the criterion of the true which is denatured, there is no longer any possible control. And little by little you will forget that you are cheating."

Dear F and Jimbo,
So...
If we want to get money out of politics (like we say), why isn't there already a reasonable (and/or accessible) cap on Democratic candidate spending? (See Julian's message below.)
More significantly, why hasn't it occurred to us to propose such a cap?
The answer is:
Plutocrats have run the show for so long -- i.e., for-fucking-ever -- that they have actually skewed our outlook so that many things are simply unthinkable - literally inconceivale - or nearly so. (See Rougemont above.)
Simultaneously, the mofos have skewed our outlook with "divide and conquer" indoctrination so that we routinely beat up on poor "undeserving" people, folks not very far removed from ourselves.
Follow the money!
ALWAYS beat up on plutocrats.
Don't beat on anyone else.
Just plutocrats.

Imagine how far Trump has gotten just by beating up on his actual enemies. And he beats up on them ever more emphatically in direct proportion to how insistently they tell the truth about him.
The fact that there may be some "good ones" among them is not a decent argument, given what's at stake. (Have you heard the line "A philanthropist is someone who gives a way what he should give back?")

The enemy is emphatically NOT welfare queens in pink cadillacs or labor unions.
The enemy is ungodly rich people who run the house like a casino - even making sure that poor people pay the most for goods and services.
Plutocracy is so TOTALLY fucked that we should hang our heads in shame for not railing against it every morning, noon and night.

The spending on TV and digital advertising in this race is staggering.
Here’s how ad spending has played out so far, via @FiveThirtyEight.
The billionaires in this race are outspending everyone else, combined.
Democrats believe that the voices of the many should be represented, that together we can make a change.
