The Day The Republican-Led Senate Refused To Let Bolton Testify

Senators Graham and McConnell pre-announce that they will break their oath, taken before God, to serve as impartial jurors in the Senate imp | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Dear F,

Thanks for your email.

So what if they sue The House!

Does that make any substantive sense to you?

Trump's in the middle of 3500 ongoing lawsuits.

Schiff's excuse sounds like words being strung together so he can give an answer that has a "ring of plausibility."

I've argued on behalf of a looonnnnnggggggg impeachment process from the beginning.

The more shit that comes out, the more opportunity for the glaring light of impeachment to illuminate it and spotlight it.

Surely Bolton has always wanted his book to come out during the heat of the campaign when interest would be at its highest - whereas if Trump loses in November, interest in his book will decline.

Even if the Dems didn't know Bolton was writing a book, "The Room Where It Happened" is precisely the kind of shitstorm-in-reverse that would have "impeached" Trump while a prolonged impeachment process was still going on.

Dear A

The White House representatives posed your question today. "Does the House’s failure to enforce subpoenas render its 'obstruction of Congress' theory unprecedented?" (USA Today excerpt)
Schiff answered as he has over and over.
Bolton said he would sue the House if they subpoenaed him.
The obstructed subpoenas and the documents requested would have to go through a long series of courts maybe leading nowhere.

As Lamar Alexander said last night when he announced he was a no vote on witnesses , 'he did it ,the Democrats proved it, we dont need more evidence but so what.'

Witnesses  was just voted down with 51 no votes.
Only Romney and Collins voted yes with the Dems.

This was after, today, Par(?)lawyer released some more damaging stuff involving Graham, Nunes, Sipoloni (one of the litigators), Mulvany and many others

Closing argument Monday then any Senator who wants can give a speech on the Sen.floor with or without anybody present.

Have television pundits talked about Pelosi's failure to enforce supoenas?

There is so much that goes on in American politics that we simply "assume" that "that's the way it is" without having the insight and/or grit to address such matters.

These issues are "the unspoken elephants" in the room.

Why the hell didn't Pelosi enforce a supoena?

How Do Trump And Obama Stack Up As Liars: Democracy Dies When Falsehood Is Normalized

Image result for "pax on both houses" flag

"The picture he keeps in the attic."
For Republicans, it is "all about winning."

It's not about Truth except in those instances when Truth coincides with partisan or personal self-interest.

Republican Presidential Candidate Pat Buchanan "Summarizes The Republican Philosophy"
https://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/…/republican-president…

For example, I have always been eager to point out that Obama lied when he said of Obamacare: "And you can keep your own doctor!"

Although there is a chance his advisors misled him (and he actually thought he was telling the truth) it has always been my working hypothesis that Obama LIED when he made this bogus claim.

Clarification of this point is the issue is the issue -- and the LIE -- I would most like Obama to explain.

I also admit that Obama concealed truths hundreds (if not thousands) of times, but this question of "keeping one's own doctor" is the only instance in which I know "I caught President Obama in a lie."

Obama also "drew a red line in the Syrian sand," but even in that instance my hunch is that Obama disobeyed his own directive.

However, I don't want to split hairs and so I feel a obligation to acknowledge that Obama LIED to the American people twice during his 8 years in office.

On the other hand, the day that Trump completed his third year in office, he told his 16,241st lie/deception.

If there are other instances of Obama lying -- and you can document them -- please let me know.

I will be forthright admitting to -- and writing about -- every documented lie you bring to light.

***

The New York Times says Obama told 18 lies during his two terms:
Opinion | Trump's Lies vs. Obama's - The New York Times
Dec 14, 2017 - In his first 10 months in office, he has told 103 separate untruths, many of them repeatedly. Obama told 18 over his entire eight-year tenure.

And here is what Snopes has to say about "Obama's 50 Lies":
Obama's 50 Lies / Obama Not Exactly - Snopes.com
List documents fifty lies told by Barack Obama. ... A list circulating online contains 50 false statements by President Barack Obama. See Example(s) ... As far as we know, no one has yet found any matching article in the pages of LIFE magazine.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/obamas-50-lies/

Although Obama occupied The Oval Office nearly 3 times longer than Trump has, Obama only told 0.31% as many lies, even if we assume every alleged lie was actually qualified.

In other words, Trump has told more than 300 times as many lies as Obama even without correcting for "time in office."

If we do correct for time in office, Trump has told nearly 900 times as many lies as Obama did during his entire tenure.

Any Open Society's "democratic process" requires that Truth-telling be The Foundational Norm. In the absence of this foundational norm, societies transform immediately and precipitously in the direction of social and political rot.

Nor will individual Americans be immune from this rot.

The zeitgeist is the zeitgeist, and it takes its toll.

Trump has all the characteristics of a pathological liar. And that pathology corrodes Democracy as a lethal disease would undermine the health of an afflicted individual.

Are we to wait for the death of Democracy to say: "Oh, so that's how it works: the normalization of compulsive lying is lethal to The Body Politic."

Or, do we point out what's true?

Trump is a traitor to Democracy.

And democratic governance -- as we've known it in these United States -- will not survive another 4 years.

Daniel Webster Weighs In On Conspiracism

Alan: Every conspiracy theory has more fractious sub-division of opinions than Christianity has sects.

"I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said "Stop! Don't do it!" "Why shouldn't I?" he said. "Well, there's so much to live for!" "Like what?" "Well... are you religious?" He said yes. I said, "Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?" "Christian." "Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant ? "Protestant." "Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?" "Baptist" "Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?" "Baptist Church of God!" "Me too! Are you original Baptist Church of God, or are you reformed Baptist Church of God?" "Reformed Baptist Church of God!" "Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915?" He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915!" I said, "Die, heretic scum", and pushed him off.
