Alan: Although the following comment may seem "off topic," it cannot be over-emphasized that "Christian" "conservatives" not only condemn - but damn - liberals because they are "baby killers."

Once the phrase "baby killer" enters the conversation, "conservatives" see red and want blood. 

The battle cry "baby killer" puts immediate end to thought, replacing it with unflinching self-righteousness, a character trait closely associated with pride, arrogance and hubris.

Paradoxically, "pro-Lifers" increase the carnage they pretend to lessen, not to mention the ravages that self-righteousness inflicts on "Christian" souls, and consequent damage to the body politic.

The evidence indicates that societies that have banned abortion have higher abortion rates than societies in which abortion is legal.

If you want to maximize the number of abortions -- a practice which WILL continue even if made illegal -- render abortion illegal.

On the other hand, if you want to bring abortion rates down, make (or keep) abortion legally available - along with universal sex education and shameless, inexpensive access to contraceptives.

It is generally true that when pro-Life advocates succeed in making abortion illegal, they contribute to higher rates of abortion.

In fact, right now, the U.S. abortion rate is lower than it was on the eve of Rowe vs. Wade.
