Alan: In the last week alone, with the dismissal of Inspector General Fine, and now Trump's proposal to shutter Congress, I have crossed the Rubicon in my conceptual relationship with Trump and his cult and believe it's time to start conceptualizing the secession of Blue States, perhaps forming an EU-like federation with Canada, although this federation component is not necessary.
There is just too much fecal slurry "under the bridge" and no reasonable way back to sanity with the possible exception of this November's election which Trump will skew - if not rig - with the tooth-and-nail fury of a trapped animal.
Let "Jesusland" (or the "Neo-Confederacy" if you prefer) stew in its own juice until those profoundly twisted people begin to cannibalize one another with the same cruelty and hatred that white "Christian" "conservatives," White Supremacists and White Nationalists have so far reserved for people of color.
Trump's "Base" of Christian conservative cultists knows that America's changing demographics are diametrical opposed to their political desires, and that - without a coup (of some sort) - they will never again win the presidency.
Furthermore, in the absence of dirty tricks like the prolongation of grotesque gerrymandering and voter disenfranchisement the day will soon come when they will never again win the Presidency, the House or the Senate. (I also note that the Electoral College has become a dirty trick.)

This is American conservatives' last gasp - the last time they will "semi-honestly" hold power.

Preparing for the possible victory of American fascists has two significant advantages.
One advantage is that secessionists can "hit the ground running," pre-determined to create a new nation with liberty and justice for all, an open society that welcomes "The Other" and refuses submission to a rogue nation, a twisted, inhumane aggregation of political and religious mutants who are already normalizing "crimes against humanity," consolidating and codifying their giddy cruelty by kidnapping children and breaking families with malice aforethought.
The other twinfold advantage of preparing for fascist takeover is that the civilized nations of the world will shun "Jesusland," refusing to trade with them or otherwise provide comfort to the enemies of Civilization.
Since this rogue nation (which I call the Neo-Confederacy) still lives in the economic and cultural shadow of Blue America, the catastrophic loss that will soon threaten the Neo-Confederacy will make its ignorant, cruel inhabitants think twice about the fate to befall them.
Even if they do nothing to forfend their fate, they will endure such hermetically-sealed banishment, such pariah-like isolation that, after experiencing the blow-back of their own hatred, cruelty, ignorance and ineptitude, they will beg for readmission to the society of civilized nations.
And if they don't, good riddance.
