Republican Opposition To Majority Rule
"According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, 178 cases of alleged voter fraud have been referred to the department since 2000. [...] Fraud, [Ion Sancho, the 24-year veteran election supervisor in Leon County] said, simply isn’t much of an issue. “You are more likely to walk out of your office and get hit by a bolt of lightning,” he said."

- The Hard, Central Truth Of Contemporary ConservatismThe hard, central "fact" of contemporary "conservatism" is its insistence on a socio-economic threshold above which people deserve government assistance, and below which people deserve to die.The sooner the better.Unless conservatives are showing n'er-do-wells The Door of Doom, they just don't "feel right."To allay this chthonic anxiety, they resort to Human Sacrifice, hoping that spilled blood will placate "the angry gods," including the one they've made of themselves. http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2013/09/harvard-study-45000-americans-die.htmlHaving poked their eyes out, they fail to see that self-generated wrath creates "the gods" who hold them thrall.Almost "to a man," contemporary "conservatives" have apotheosized themselves and now -- sitting on God's usurped throne -- are rabid to pass Final Judgment.Self-proclaimed Christians, eager to thrust "the undeserving" through The Gates of Hell, are the very people most likely to cross its threshold.Remarkably, none of them are tempted to believe this.

Alan: In the "conservative" view, anything short of Perfection is rank diabolism. And so it is that red-hot pursuit of justice in an attempt to punish a vanishingly small number of malefactors causes grave injustice to "The Many." My Dad pointed out that nothing is perfect but that "the greatest good for the greatest number" is a very helpful principle. In Dad's view, optimal (but always imperfect) Justice requires enough indulgence so that many criminals "walk." Alternatively, American "conservatives" (and other "absolutists") are eager to cut off their noses to spite the face.
