Trump Is A Traitor By Virtue Of Normalizing Falsehood And Teaching Americans To Do The Same
Trump is a traitor by virtue of normalizing falsehood and teaching Americans to do the same.
Without fundamental regard for truth, democratic process and open societies cannot survive.
If Trump remains in office a second term, The Founders' vision of a non-monarchical, non-autocratic democracy will be trashed beyond recognition.
Between now and November, it will become increasingly clear that The Republican Party orchestrated a Senate trial (even before House "Articles of Impeachment" were delivered to the Senate) that amounted to a kangaroo court, admitting no witnesses and blocking all pertinent truth-telling documents.
It has been said that "isolation is the breeding ground of evil" and Trump's obsessive insistence on isolating witnesses and documentary evidence from public access is an essential betrayal of Truth, Justice and American political culture.
Increasingly, this secretive insistence on non-disclosure will be seen as a coordinated attempt to stonewall any consideration of evidentiary truth in order to exonerate a manifestly guilty man who is treacherous by any definition - and traitorous by my own.
As this realization of malfeasance crystallizes -- and soon accelerates with the release of Bolton's book -- those rank-and-file Republicans-and-Independents with any residual allegiance to Truth, Justice and American political culture will slowly sicken.
I do not know what percentage of Republicans and Independents are "persuadables," but a recent poll revealed that 63% of Americans believe Trump committed an impeachable crime. https://www.msnbc.com/…/poll-gop-voters-acknowledge-dismiss…
In November these "persuadables" will turn on Malignant Messiah and his lickspittle enablers, all of whom know that the only way forward as a "viable" "party" is to fashion a minoritarian autocracy.
This new Trump government (whose autocratic, above-the-law lineaments were ratified yesterday at the Senate impeachment trial) will have all the trappings of democracy - flagwaving, jingoism and glowing "parade day oratory" whose linchpin purpose is to disguise the racist, white nationalism that undergirds the entire Cult.
