Native America: Why Don't Middle School And High School American History Texts Tell The Truth?

Image may contain: 1 person, text that says 'LLEFT RIGHT "At Least 3,000 Native Americans Died on the Trail of Tears." History.com Shouldn't the truth about this be taught in American schools?'
Alan: This post is dedicated to my daughter Maria, the most ferocious freedom fighter I know; an undaunted activist, community organizer and environmental educator totally dedicated to the liberation of Native Americans.

Andy Borowitz points out that Trump is just a symptom we need to renounce in November.

But if we truly intend to heal ourselves as a nation and return to a shared sense of integrity and truth, it will be necessary to reform education - and educational curricula - so that this four year-long spasm of nationwide stupidity-and-ignorance doesn’t manifest again.

But watch what happens.

It is at the level of curricular reform that tens of millions of self-professed American “patriots,” mostly people who treat the flag like a shroud in search of an “infidel’s” cadaver, will resist — tooth and nail! — any attempt to tell the whole truth about American history.

The same holds true for the history of slavery, Jim Crow, Segregation, Separate-But-Equal and Extrajudicial Murder by Bad Cops.

But this is not an essay suited to full explication of that horror.

Here is a post that will introduce you to the grotesquerie of black slavery and its aftermath:

BRILLIANT Video History: The Key Difference Between "Income" And "Wealth" For U.S. Blacks

Why do so many Americans insist on teaching their children historical falsehoods rather than "the whole true and nothing but the truth so help me God?"

Once these jingoistic, chauvinistic pseudo-patriots lose their platitudes -- once "The Official Story" crashes and burns -- they will "lose their religion."

And for simple-minded, ritualistic folk, there is no fate more horrifying than the realization that one’s platitudes were often no better than rank falsehoods.
