I have switched allegiance and now want conservative luminaries to change nothing

Dear Fred,

Since the election, a strange thing has happened to me.

I used to oppose American Absolutists' passion for there Impossibly Pure Principles and ideologically fabricated falsehoods.

Formerly, I opposed the witch's brew of mendacity and irreality thinking it rendered short-term advantage to conservatives.

Now, it seems that a decisive majority of Americans know that Impossibly Pure Principles (and the misrepresentation of Reality on which they are based), are not only counterproductive but essentially un-American, tacitly arguing the replacement of Democracy with Theocracy. (Nixon advisor, Kevin Phillips, is a rich source of politically practical insight. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Theocracy)

I am now perfectly content for Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Colter and Savage not change a thing.

Just be the venemous people they are.

May they persevere in perversity until they ruin on themselves and their insane political party.

It didn't use to be this way.

There is so much to admire in Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower.

Obama admires a great many GOP accomplishments, so much so that he has become a "Rockefeller Republican." (The allegation that HUSSEIN is a "socialist" is as unhinged as the "birther conspiracy" and the belief that Obama is Islamic. Not just "out there," but occupying another universe.)

On the religious front...

When Yeshua said  "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's," it meant something.

Like most good theological teaching, "Render to Caesar" suggests a course of action without precisely defining it.

There is a deeper contextualization too - that Yeshua reserved his vitriol for fellow Jews -- particularly the most upstanding church-goers -- while speaking no word of condemnation (that I remember) about the occupying Romans.

Real waters run deep.

That said, there is not a nanometer's depth to LaPierre's statement that "“The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." Or, "With all the money in the federal budget can’t we afford to put a police officer in every single school?”

"Beat your swords into plowshares" however has resonance that hums at the bottom of The Mariana Trench."

Pax on both houses

Alan

PS Going over the cliff is starting to look rather attractive - setting the stage for a 2014 Democratic sweep of Congress. All we need is for Limbaugh and his fellows to continue their traitorousness until they destroy their own party in the deal.
      What then purists?

I propose a three-person commission -- Mayor Bloomberg, LaPierre of the NRA and myself -- the three of us could knock out a sensible arrangement.

The NRA has millions of dues-paying members, Bloomberg has millions of dollars, and I would serve to keep them down-to-earth.
