Alan Archibald: This is my first comment on Breitbart. Riffling through this comments section, I see considerable appeal to platitudes. References to God and Freedom are commonplace. But I have no sense that contributors actually read history. It appears that y'all learned "The Official Story" in middle school and, by God, if it was good enough for Mom and Apple Pie, it's good enough for you.. Consider these two fact-checkable quotations from Lincoln and then ask your self why you won't forward them to the people in your email directories. I conclude you want pablum, not substantive truth. And when truth does rear its ugly head, you take refuge in non-disclosure. What are you hiding? Even from yourselves? You're engaged in a very subtle balancing act. Keep the platitudes intact. Wear the platitudes on my sleep And - at any cost - hide the truth. But don't take it from me. I surrender the floor to Abraham Lincoln.
