A Liberal Billionaire &/Or A Consortium Of R&R Stars Should Create A New, Progressive Facebook

It's Time For A Progressive Facebook Alternative
That Doesn't Tolerate Assholes | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Alan: If Mike Bloomberg is serious about spending a billion dollars to elect Joe Biden, he "should" launch a social media platform structurally similar to Facebook but called something like "Social Network For Progressives Pissed Off At Facebook."

Or maybe progressive billionaire Nick Hanauer would be interested in creating such a site as a for profit business.

Mark my words...

If someone creates such a massively viable social network before a possible "fascist lockdown" in the fall, that fellow will become both a billionaire and a National Hero.

For the sake of a great acronym, this new platform could be called "Social Network For Liberals/Leftists" - SNL for short.

Let's be clear about our bias.

It is no secret that everyone on the left side of the aisle wants an alternative social network. Like the Never-Trumpers, we might be called the "Never Facebookers."

To date however, none of the available options (including some that are quite good) have gathered the momentum to cross that cyber-threshold at which people will eagerly join up as soon as they "get wind," or as soon as a friend invites them.

The new network must take advantage of the widespread desire to topple Facebook, to demonstrate - once again - the Old Testament proverb: "How the mighty have fallen!)

Marketing!

It's all in the marketing.

Perhaps a network that's already up and running (Ello, Vero...) could ally with a consortium of liberal businesspeople and cultural lumaries.

Here is a proposal for The Twelve Apostles +1.

Bill Gates

Bruce Springsteen

Nick Hanauer

Paul McCartney

Warren Buffett

Mick Jagger

J.K. Rowling

Tom Steyer

Stephen King

George Soros

Paul Simon

Mike Bloomberg

Bono

Even now, at the 11th hour, it is not inconceivable that a consortium could work with Ello or Vero so that there would be a major "launch event" on the 100th day prior to November 3rd's election so that people who are aware of "reality's well-known liberal bias" would determine to shun Facebook and use only the new platform for at least a hundred days - sort of like a Lenten resolution.

(I'll note parenthetically that Facebook's market capitalization is only $675 billion, less than half the newly-printed money the Fed just pumped into the market as the central feature of Uncle Sam's Coronavirus rescue package. I don't know.... Could Buffett finance a hostile takeover of Facebook? Might Zuckerburg WANT to be taken over now that he's brought seemingly irredeemable shame on himself?)

One more thing...

This new network -- SNL -- would unabashedly state its intention to keep trolls and other meddlesome, mendacious and malicious assholes off the platform.

Internet Trolls And The End Of Civilization As We Know It

I am not talking about a perfect platform here.

I am talking about progress, NOT perfection.

I'm talking about a platform whose foremost goal would be to avoid socio-political cataclysm, a platform that would not contribute to Putin's termination of The American Experiment through shrewd use of "pocket change."

  1. Yes, maybe he or she can, but nobody will ever manage to do it for free. It is not 2000s and this enthusiast will never be Zuckerberg. So he wll have to attract loaned capital and I can tell you in this market nobody will want to invest in a venture business. This https://cashcat.ph/products/24-hour-payday-loan-philippines/ website can be a helping hand I suppose, but it is up to you to decide.
