Let us lend our strength to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She did not want this impeachment fight, she avoided it, she advised against it, but the evidence was too compelling to overlook. Trump must be impeached and sent packing. There is no other choice. So, how can we help Nancy with this most difficult and unwanted task? Trump is such a nasty man, to use polite language. How would you be like to confront him? Not me. I can think of a million better ways to spend my time than to fight Trump, and I expect Nancy Pelosi feels the same way, so let's back her up as best we can and keep pushing until we are done and Trump is gone.

  But now that the whistleblower's testimony is no longer central to the investigation -- and it also appears that the process will take considerably longer than originally predicted -- I think it is good that "Trump-muck" will continue to emerge at least through Christmas.

  Having begun impeachment inquiry sooner rather than later helps deflect the accusation that impeachment is an attempt by Democrats to muddy the waters during campaign season.
  
  And if Trump contests the principle of executive privilege in the courts, then he himself will be responsible for prolonging the impeachment process.
  
  On the other hand, if he lets his henchmen (and henchwomen) respond to House supoenas, he cooks his own goose on another fire.
  
  It seems to me Pelosi has all the "trump cards" and Donald none.
  
  Consider the following largely unpublicized "impeachment rule"...
  
  I have read that the House is not obligated to advance an "impeachment resolution" to the Senate, an option that gives Democrats opportunity to air all of Mafia Don's dirty laundry, then "short-circuit" his presumed exoneration by McConnell's lockstep foot soldiers.
  
  On the other hand, as more muck comes out concerning Goombah and The Mob, some (perhaps many) Republican senators may actually want opportunity to ratify the impeachment resolution.
  
  Savvy politician that she is, Pelosi could be constellating "the horns" of this pending Republican dilemma.
  
  Finally, under pressure of impeachment, Trump's behavior is becoming increasing bizarre and therefore prone to shoot himself in the foot.
  
  It is not inconceivable that -- in a moment of particularly painful pique -- Malignant Messiah could shoot himself in the head just like Mike Mulvaney did.
