What do you consider sensible?

Alan: For starters, "sensible gun legislation" would include universal background checks at every point-of-sale including gun shows and private person-to-person transactions. 

Furthermore, failure to conduct a background check would result in obligatory prison time and a permanent felony record which, in turn, would strip guilty sellers of their Second Amendment rights forevermore.

All people with a history of domestic abuse -- or a violent criminal record including plea deals from violent crimes to non-violent crimes -- would fail background checks. 

And finally, parents whose children access mommy or daddy's unlocked guns and then use them to perpetrate violent crimes or to attempt suicide would be guilty of a felony.

Tell me.
