Joe Biden, Bernie Bros And The Price I Pay

Dear F,

Thanks for your email.

Bernie is a very good man - the fellow who singlehandedly normalized Democratic Socialism, the greatest political accomplishment of my lifetime with the arguable exception of Johnson's Medicare launch.

If not this year -- then soon -- the United States of Barbaria will finally catch up with Civilization.

Bernie addressed the issue of "bad Bernie bros" on February 23rd:  https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/bernie-sanders-email-supporters-799468/

And finally, here is Bernie wondering what percentage of his "bad eggs" are Russian bots. https://www.ft.com/content/30cf1654-5775-11ea-a528-dd0f971febbc (Remember. Russian bots are very devious: they even changed your sister's vote and Mary had no clue these trolls had gotten inside her head and her heart and her will.)

If I were a young, idealistic Bernie supporter, I would be outraged that Biden does not "guarantee" universal healthcare coverage.

After all, lack of universal coverage WILL result in tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths each year between now and realization.

Harvard Study: 45,000 Americans Die Annually For Lack Of Health insurance
http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2013/09/harvard-study-45000-americans-die.html

Just last night, an Arizona newspaper had this to say about one of Bernie's claims at yesterday's rally:

On preventable deaths

What he said: Sanders said roughly 30,000 people die every year because they lack adequate health care.
The facts: Researchers have established that people without health insurance are more likely to die sooner than those with health insurance, and that health coverage improves health outcomes.
But they have struggled to quantify the exact number of annual deaths related to a lack of health insurance. Studies in recent years have resulted in dramatically different estimates, ranging from 18,000 to 68,000.
But these lethal FACTs get no traction with old farts like us, complacent as we are with Medicare and other resources that accrue with age and a professional life.

So here's the bottom line.

I don't think anyone has been injured, much less killed, by Bernie's lunatic 10%.

But those of us who sign off on Joe rather than Bernie are responsible for guaranteeing additional delay in the implementation of universal healthcare, and during that delay a hundred thousand people -- or more -- will die because we decided to be safe rather than salvific.

The Last Time Christians Had Any Balls, They Welcomed Martyrdom

I understand all the reasons we marshal to make our peace with this compromise.

But I suspect Jesus would cast his lot with Bernie.

I will continue to support Joe.

But I am proud that Maria and Danny support Bernie.

And if they decide to "go down with the ship" -- or better yet guide their ship to The Oval Office -- I will be even prouder.

Dear A
In an interview(Maddow) from her home last night,
Warren concurred with Meghans depiction of Bernie people being vicious and dangerous . She believes that leaders are responsible for their followers and must rebuke and disavow from the extreme things said and done in their name.

She claimed  misogyny, death threats ,vile and bullying  language and more from  Sanders followers. In the same interview she said Joe was a really decent man.

It will be interesting to see where she goes given this knowledge.

Love
F
