Alan: The nub of Christian moral theology is this: How do we encourage morality without opening the door to self-righteous moralism.

"Many are called but few are chosen."

And ironically those who hear the call loudest are often the most prone to cross the border from moral goodness into moralistic egocentrism.

In effect they hear such a loud "call" that they mistakenly become part of The Noise Machine.
