Ronald Reagan Video: "Government Is The Problem"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEuiI2PbSWQ

Alan: In the minute-long clip above, Reagan lambastes technical "elites" -- physicians? engineers? architects? -- then asks this spurious question: "If no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else?" Setting aside the seductive capability of obsequious populism, there are many people in government who know how to govern themselves far better than the innately-anarchic rich who -- of all people -- are least likely to accept any discipline except those contributing to self-aggrandizement. And while slurping at the trough, these plutocrats keep their workers on starvation wages while taking advantage of government subsidies, tax breaks and handouts.

G.K. Chesterton put it well: "The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly;
the rich have always objected to being governed at all."

"You’ve got that eternal idiotic idea that if anarchy came it would come from the poor. Why should it? The poor have been rebels, but they have never been anarchists; they have more interest than anyone else in there being some decent government. The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn’t; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all. Aristocrats were always anarchists."

Consider the most traitorous comment ever made by an American president.

Reagan staunchly opposed Medicare as "socialized medicine."

Ever the opportunist, Ronald Reagan pushed the deadliest drug ever to afflict humankind,
sending "free samples" to "all his friends."

  • Ronald Reagan's core message that "government is the problem" unleashed the obstructionism, dysfunction, incivility and decline that characterize contemporary "conservatism." No American president has so corroded America's collaborative purpose. Almost singlehandedly, Ronald Reagan seeded the demise of America's Social Contract and with it the principles of Common Good and General Welfare

    Future generations will despise this man.
