talking about the love of money being the root of all evil? what about this guy's love for money? does that count? Seems like he's one of those politicians who left his position a lot richer than he'd assumed it.

  • Alan Archibald It is a rudimentary tenet of Christian moral theology that "the love of money" is the twisted rubric of conscience that "The Apostle Paul" establishes as "the root of all evil," NOT money itself.

Notably, there is no hint in Obama's character that he "loves' money.

However, it is doubtful whether Trump ultimately loves anything but money - and the putative power (and pleasure) it can buy.

My correspondent Karen Kolbinsky, who considers herself Christian to the core (while finding NO fault in Trump) confuses "money itself" with "the love of money" and -- commiting a rookie's error -- makes the two identical when, in fact, they are nearly antithetical.
