David Cay Johnston: "Trump Is Not A Loyal American. We Have A Traitor In The White House"

SSC to CB -- This describe you -- if you hate President Trump, you hate America?

"For now, though, the left’s only issue is 'We hate Trump.' This is an instructive hatred, because what the left hates about Donald Trump is precisely what it hates
about America. The implications are important, and painful.

"Not that every leftist hates America. But the leftists I know do hate Mr. Trump’s vulgarity, his unwillingness to walk away from a fight, his bluntness, his certainty that America is exceptional, his mistrust of intellectuals, his love of simple ideas that work, and his refusal to believe that men and women are interchangeable. Worst of all, he has no ideology except getting the job done. His goals are to do the task before him, not be pushed around, and otherwise to enjoy life. In short, he is a typical American—except exaggerated, because he has no constraints to cramp his style except the ones he himself invents."

Alan: Every mid-Eastern trouble-maker sucks.

Zionist Israel sucks worst of all.

I know...

You've read the "Book of Revelation" (or at least "the fundie bits") and have 20/20 insight into God's Will for The End Time. "Bring on the Armageddon Cheerleaders!" https://www.cnn.com/2017/12/08/opinions/jerusalem-israel-evangelicals-end-times-butler-bass-opinion/index.html

Before you become too complacent, read what "the elitists" -- i.e., the people who actually know something -- have to say about "Revelation." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Revelation#Interpretations

Although it's "another story altogether," I am continually struck that anti-factual white nationalists -- a term that pretty much coincides with white supremacists -- pretend they will thrive, paying no taxes, hunkered down in their home on the range "where the skies are not cloudy all day," blithely criticizing "the elites," UNTIL a spot appears on their lung x-ray.

Then, before taking their next breath, they insist that the most highly-educated medical elitists in America be their caregivers.

Even the "basket of deplorables" -- which Hillary low-balled at one quarter of the population -- know that "when it all comes down," only educated elitists can "save their bacon" --- not to mention design the cars, trucks, guns, cellphones and other electronic gizmos around which their lives revolve.

But back to the Middle East and the power struggle between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Between these two Islamic players, I harbor less contempt for Iran than for Saudi Arabia, if only because Uncle Sam (by way of the nefarious Dulles brothers) intervened in Iranian politics in a way that would render every American patriot neverendingly furious if the tables were turned and the United States got f_____ by a foreign power like Uncle Sam f_____ Iran in 1953.

2.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_Iranian_coup_d%27%C3%A9tat

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia -- insofar as its interests are co-terminous with The House of Saud -- is a thoroughly despicable polity whose medieval ruling family cuts off more heads than ISIS.

And that's a fact.

Would You Work For A Murderer?
That's The Question A Host Of Ex-Generals, Diplomats And Spies Face

Furthermore, it was Saudi citizens who -- beholden to homegrown Wahhabi Islam (THE taproot of jihadi terror) -- perped 9/11, the precise origin of America's ongoing "National Lunacy."

"Saudi Support For Wahhabi Radicalism Is The Taproot Of Islamic Terror"
(My 2014 post)

Not surprisingly, the fact that Saudis created the ideological milieu that resulted in 9/11 was ignored by Uncle Sam and the Bush administration to distract Americans from our Saudi ally's root-and-branch involvement in 9/11. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2003/10/saving-the-saudis-200310

Then, before the dust settled, Bush-Cheney chose to throw great gobs of red meat at American jingoists (always "spoilin'-for-a-fight"). Clearly "we" had to whoop somebody's ass, and what better "designated enemy" than Ronald Reagan's ally, Iraq, a country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11.

Any meaningful discussion of terrorism in the middle East must focus The Iraq War as the most egregious instance of state-sponsored terrorism since Vietnam.

"Terrorism And The Other Religions"

Not only was Bush-Cheney's rationale for invasion preposterous, the resulting war catapulted the entire Middle East (and arguably the world) into acute -- and still ongoing -- geo-political instability.

Concerning Josh Meyer's article impugning Obama for "going easy" on Hezbollah...

Let me be clear: I believe author Josh Meyer when he writes: "The man who would become Obama’s top counterterrorism adviser and then CIA director, John Brennan... recommended in a policy paper that “the next president has the opportunity to set a new course for relations between the two countries” through not only a direct dialogue, but “greater assimilation of Hezbollah into Lebanon’s political system.”

Note that Brennan wrote this policy paper in July 2008, before Obama was even nominated as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate. Clearly, Brennan and the Obama administration's "measured treatment" of Hezbollah in 2009 was not a spur-of-the-moment act motivated by nefarious pragmatism, but rather was the logical outgrowth of Brennan's already established view. You can disagree with Brennan's view. But you cannot say the Obama administration "colluded" with Brennan to "go easy on Hezbollah" since Brennan's preference for moderation was already a matter of record.

"The Secret Back Story Of How Obama Let Hezbollah Off The Hook"

For corroboration of Brennan's already mainstream view, read Wikipedia's article about "Hezbollah." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hezbollah

Again, you can disagree with Wikipedia's view and you can find "something" on Alex Jones to support your own.

But it is a fact -- "plain as potatoes" - that since the early 1990s Hezbollah had been steadily moving toward peaceful incorporation into Lebanese politics, a move Brennan understandably wanted to encourage.

If you wish to get anything done in this world, you cannot insist on pre-perfection. A certain amount of slack must be cut.

Admittedly, Hezbollah was founded as an organization dedicated to waging war on Israel, but there is unanimous agreement that Hezbollah's armed resistance was in reaction to Israel's vicious invasion of Lebanon in 1982, an attack that would infuriate every American patriot if a foreign power had done to the United States EXACTLY what Israel did to Lebanon.

But even if we accept the fallacious premise of Meyer's article, that Obama -- as a temporary measure -- let Hezbollah "off the hook" to insure passage of the Iranian Nuclear Treaty, that realpolitik trade-off is not only acceptable but wise. (Check out Fox News' interview with Meyer. Josh did not do his homework. http://insider.foxnews.com/2017/12/20/obama-hezbollah-bombshell-reporter-josh-meyer-defends-sources)

A fundamentally twisted element in America's "conservative" psyche is right-wing insistence on ABSOLUTE purity whenever conservatives contemplate their political opponents, but they have no trouble electing vengeful boor Trump who has cheated people his entire adult life - http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2017/05/donald-trump-felon-re-visiting-trump.html - including all three wives. Most recently, pussy grabber trashed Melania by boning a porn star.

What a guy!

What a role model!

No wonder the Wall Street Journal sings his praise.

Consider this...

If your wife EVER cheated on you, I would "bet the farm" there would be neither mulligans nor trace of forgiveness.

Nada. Niente. Nihil. Zilch.

But when "conservatives" deem it politically advantageous to champion a moral cesspool of such depth-and-breadth that The Swamp has to be expanded to accommodate the muck, you have NO problem with that.

And where, pray tell, is Hillary's mulligan?

Please! Bring charges!
And if not, why not?

But back to Josh Meyer's poorly researched (and poorly reasoned) article...

Even if we accept Meyers' shoddy thinking, the Obama administration's alleged "indulgence" of Hezbollah was a temporary means to an important end.

On the other hand, Trump's pal Putin has been in bed with Hezbollah from the beginning. Notably, Deceitful Donald does not even hint there's anything wrong with Vlad's round-the-clock commitment to furthering the fortunes of Hezbollah.

Trump wants Putin in Syria to stabilize the turmoil in that country, and by extension Putin is perfectly positioned to send all manner of weaponry and other material aid to his Hezbollah allies.

Trump embraces Putin (ironically, a Spanish language diminutive for "small male prostitute") with the same canoodling brown nose he uses with his other bromantic partner, Kim Jong Un, one of the sleaziest mofos in history.

Right now, Kim Jong Un is cleaning Trump's clock, knowing that Donald is helpless to do anything about the collapsed "denuclearization" project because Trump's psychological derangement prevents him from admitting ANY mistake.

For crissake, Deplorable Donald can't even cop to cheating on Melania.

So what does self-entrapped Trump do?  He sends Pompeo to North Korea to announce a "deadline for progress" and conveniently situates that deadline AFTER the 2020 presidential election.

Duh.

In an oblique way the Wall Street Journal is right: its portrayal of Trump is indistinguishable from that of a Know-Nothing white nationalist bully who always thinks he can "win" by denying responsibility for falsehood-and-failure, and -- void of any "elitist" factuality -- dingbat Donny plunges into every battle certain that bluster, bravado and bullsh*t will conquer all.

To summarize...

Although I do not support terrorism -- including its American manifestations -- I have long been more sympathetic to Iran than to Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, I am least sympathetic to Uncle Sam's use of terror because the United States of America "should know better."

Don't even get me started on Yemen.
