Alan: The fact that Dr. Blasey Ford had a great deal to lose "just for speaking up," whereas Kavanaugh could have lost everything (including his marriage) if he did not lie, tilts the scale in Blasey Ford's favor.
I cannot be absolutely certain Kavanaugh lied, but if he has been hiding a sordid past (which is at least plausible), he would have been powerfully motivated to continue lying in last week's Judiciary Committee meetings.
