A "User Comment" About My Ted-Nugent-Gun-Control Meme

Alan: I received the following user comment from a fellow who subscribes to the same "meme creation website" that I use - www.ImgFlip.com

In response to the meme posted above, he wrote: 

"BWAHAHAHAHA! The US isn't even close to the most dangerous "developed" nation in the world. Do you even Statistics? 2,712,630 deaths in the US in 2015. Not counting suicide, 5,049 deaths by guns. = 0.002% of all deaths. You're more likely to kill yourself eating all those Hotpockets you wash down with Mt Dew in your moms basement."

In this passage, the author makes as many erroneous assumptions about me as he makes about gun violence. 

And why, prithee, should we "not count suicides? 

A strong case can be made that suicides should be counted first and that we should "weight" them more heavily since the young people who would rarely succeed at suicide qithout access to a firearm, comprise the population that suffers most. 

Not to mention the life-long trauma and horror endured by parents and siblings.

Given that people on "the denial side of the aisle" are intrinsically unable to accept any truth which contradicts the ideological presumptions that hold the thrall, "mangling truth" becomes a predictable pastime. (There is also the appalling lack of intellectual rigor and blanket ignorance concerning epistomology.)

As it happens, I am 70 years old. My mother died 11 years ago. (I left home at 18.) 

And I live in my own $400,000.00 home. 

Furthemore, I do not know what "Hotpockets" are and consider Moutain Dew the most repulsive carbonated drink on the market. 

As a believer in equal opportunity, I will note that Mountain Dew is an unusually popular product here in The Bible Belt where every state voted for Trump with sizeable (and sometimes staggering) pluralities.

I suppose it is of no avail to point out that "ad hominen" argument (even when true) is a logical fallacy.

Still, hope springs eternal...
