NY Man Acquitted After Serving 13 Years for Double Homicide

A man who served 13 years in prison for a 2002 double homicide in western New York has been exonerated following a retrial.
The Democrat & Chronicle of Rochester reports ( http://on.rocne.ws/1JWTRgh ) a jury acquitted Charles "Teddy" Pierre on Thursday in the deaths of Clara Sconiers and Thomas Reed.
Van Henri White, Pierre's attorney, said "justice took a while but it got here."
New evidence that possibly pointed to another man committing the killings helped Pierre vacate his conviction and clear his name.
Pierre, originally from Trinidad, was facing a possible deportation in 2002. He could remain detained while awaiting an immigration decision.
White says prosecutors have done a disservice to the victim's families by insisting on Pierre's guilt.
