Albur: The Mexican Art Of Doble Entendido

In Mexico, albur is a form of humour used to make ordinarily taboo subjects approachable (Credit: Credit: Linka A Odom/Getty Images)

Dear B,

I got pretty good at doble entendido while living in Nicaragua and, late one night, kept up a sexually charged "albur" with Danny's godmother, Conny Pena Vado, all the way back from Masaya to Managua.

The episode must have lasted an hour.

To an outsider, it would have sounded like trite conversation.

For us, it was over-the-top hilarity.

Paz contigo,

Alan
