Dear John,

In the following video clip, Jon Stewart skewers Republican pundits who have renounced fierce criticism of Romney to champion his candidacy. http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/04/jon-stewart-marvels-at-fox-news-pivot-to-romney.php

"The Republican philosophy might be summarized thus: To hell with principle; what matters is power, and that we have it, and they do not.” Pat Buchanan, "Where the Right Went Wrong" - http://www.amazon.com/Where-Right-Went-Wrong-Neoconservatives/dp/0312341156  (Buchanan has spent more time in The Oval Office as presidential adviser than any living American.)

During the upcoming campaign, we will all learn more about Mormonism.

We will also learn more about guiding light "Ayn Rand: Atheist Cornerstone of The Republican Party." http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2012/04/ayn-rand-atheist-cornerstone-of-tea.html

Personally, I like Romney and see no reason Mormonism should impede voting for him.

Similarly, I see no reason why atheists should not have proportionate influence on America's political process.

But I also realize that conservative Christians are blind to the role Mormonism has played in American history, just as they are blind to Ayn Rand's bedrock role in The Republican Party.

Throughout this campaign I will approach Christian conservatives the way Captain Kirk approached renegade computers.

Stewed in their own juice, many "Good Christians" (assuming residual consistency between preachment and practice) are about to experience an "existential" case of indigestion.

PS The PBS documentary, "Mormonism," is an extraordinary piece of work - history presented as nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat drama. http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.com/2012/01/mormons-pbs-frontline-documentary.html
