As Latinos, we know what it's like to be caught in the crosshairs of Donald Trump's hateful rhetoric. But we also know what it means to fight back. In 2015, we led the fight to demand a criminal investigation and subsequent arrest for Trump’s actions which have incited hate and acts of violence.1 We are so inspired by members like you, who are raising your voices against hate, and confronting Trump at events across the country.Thank you!
Presidential primary elections begin next month — the perfect opportunity to press for accountability in the media and at the Department of Justice.Help continue this great momentum with your financial contribution.
America is finally waking up to the dangers of Trump's hate-speech.Mainstream journalists and politicians are publicly comparing Trump's proposed policies to those of the Fascists and the Nazis, two of the 20th century's most notorious and destructive political forces. That's a far cry from the privileged treatment his campaign got from the press early this year.
And importantly, the Department of Justice announced it will crack down on those who incite hate and violence against Muslims. As Trump continues to whip his followers into a violent and hateful frenzy over Latino and Muslim immigrants, justifying the beating of Black protesters, demanding the physical removal of Latino journalists, and calling for surveillance of Muslims, we must be ready to make a clear case to the public and to the Justice Department that Trump's actions and words ought to be investigated.
Members like you have been leaders in the fight to hold Trump accountable. In July, more than 10,000 Presente members demanded that Republicans exclude Trump from the first debate after Trump defamed Mexican immigrants. Then, when Saturday Night Live attempted to sanitize Trump's image and give him a platform, thousands more Presente members stepped up to ask SNL to do better.
And 20,000 (and counting) Presente members like you have asked Attorney General Loretta Lynch to investigate Trump's campaign for inciting violence against our communities. Last week's announcement from Attorney General Lynch that the Department of Justice will go after hate speech that incites violence represents real progress in the fight against Trump's hate. Your financial support powers Presente's work to elevate the voices of Latinos and our allies against hatemongers like Donald Trump.
