Guns In Home Make Suicide 5X More Likely. Suicides Comprise 60% Of U.S. Deaths By Firearm

Alan: No one in my extended family owns a handgun.

The only rifle owner in my family is an avid hunter who prefers to use bow and arrow.

Despite my infrequent association with gun owners, I do know homes in which firearm suicide and accidental homicide have taken place. (A teenager shot a pre-teen.)

I know no one who has used a firearm to prevent a crime.

I have never had a freind tell me of such an instance in their lives or the lives of people they know.

And I will bet dollars to doughnuts you don't know anyone either.

The belief that Americans regularly use firearms to "nip crime in the bud" has nothing to do with The American Dream

It is The American Nightmare

A great deal of modern American "culture" is devoted to sowing, propagating and prolonging stupid self-terrorization - all because the uneducated believe that rare anecdotes establish durable "Rules" while statistically-demostrable truth is what "them damn intellectuals do" to make money selling books and to bring about socialist world government.

Go to Google Images, turn off "Safe Search" and type in the key words "teenage suicide by firearm."

There are thousands of these horrifying deaths, and they take place in American homes very much like yours.

For every heroic "firearm intervention" that prevents a crime being committed, dozens of American teenagers blew their heads off.

Handguns At Home And The Scourge Of Suicide Among Young People

There are over 40% more firearm suicides than firearm homicides in the United States. In the United States, only motor vehicle crashes and cancer claim more lives among children 5–14 years old than do firearms.

For young Americans, 15-24, suicide (60% by firearm) is the third leading cause of death
