It is now commonly assumed that some of the "sayings" attributed to Jesus were not uttered by The Carpenter but were composed by authors-and-editors of The Good News.
For example, the story of "the woman taken in adultery" was a belated scriptural addition, almost certainly not an actual occurrence in the life of Jesus.
