My Facebook Comment Re: The Republican Party's Non-Existent Alternative To Obamacare

I cannot imagine the GOP going along with Trump's long-standing (and recently re-stated) desire to provide universal healthcare at government expense, but I am prepared to be surprised.

It must also be kept in mind that Obama is a life-long supporter of "government financed universal care" and settled for the myriad problems built-into The Affordable Care Act because those degrading compromises were the only way to get around GOP obstructionists.

To be clear, everything that sucks in The Affordable Care Act was included as a second, third or fourth "best" default in order to accommodate the free market profiteers on "the other side of the aisle."

Left to his own devices, Obama would have enacted a single-payer, government-financed system just like those Trump recommends in the following video: "Single-payer works in Canada; it works incredibly well in Scotland."
