Ananias and Sapphira, A "Gospel" Story Honoring God As An Unjust, Bloodthirsty Tyrant
What is "obvious" in The Thinking Housewife's logic is the presumed validity of her speculative conclusions - infallibly pontificating that the pope is a heretic-impostor, thus enabling her to "work backward" from her supposition to create any "scenario" necessary to justify her beliefs as absolutely true.
However, if God acts to strike down Christian evildoers with such timely precision that Ananias and Sapphira lie dead at the Apostles' feed in the span of 3 hours, surely he can vouchsafe the validity of Papal elections... or at least strike dead diabolical usurpers of St. Peter's Chair.
It also bears mention that the New Testament account of Ananias and Sapphira makes clear they were struck dead for refusing to be obedient communists. (See Acts 4:32-37 and Luke 18:18-25 below.)

When you claimed this was the full price, you were lying to the Holy Spirit. 4 The property was yours to sell or not, as you wished. And after selling it, it was yours to decide how much to give. How could you do a thing like this? You weren’t lying to us, but to God.” 5 As soon as Ananias heard these words, he fell to the floor, dead!
