Democractially-Elected Iranian President Mohammad Mosaddegh
Overthrown By The CIA, 1953
Dear Fred,
Thanks for your email.
In 1980, I voted for Jon Anderson rather than Jimmy Carter after deep disgust at his attempted hostage rescue.
From the beginning of "The Iranian Hostage Crisis," it seemed to me that the way to release the hostages -- simultaneously making amends for real wrong-doing -- was to apologize for the CIA-sponsored overthrow of democratically-elected Iranian President, Mohammad Mosaddegh.
Too much politicking is based on "saving face" - at the expense of risking -- and risking foolishly -- the rest of The Body.

I actually read the condemnation issued by the Cairo embassy before I heard about Romney's reaction.
So my own reaction is relevant -- I thought it was the wrong thing to say, and that it amounted to an apology, and there was nothing to apologize for.
