Alan: Essential to the Disease of Fascism -- an atavistic, quintessentially animalistic affliction -- is the belief that torture is necessary to vanquish evil. A sine qua non.
Ironically, it is torture itself that is evil, and grievously so.
Last week, I lunched with retired Air Force general friend AWC who repeated his observation that "as soon as we torture the enemy, the enemy feels a certain compulsion to torture Americans in return."
Another dimension of fascists' fondness for torture is that their abject self-interest seems incapable of pondering the evident fact that torture is a "circle" that comes around to wrack the bodies and minds of Americans.
How can they not see this?
And if they do see it, how can they promote torture?
What's wrong with them?
Very often these people pretend to be Christian but live in such abject fear that they applaud any abomination, regardless its monstrosity.
I have conducted two different google searches trying to turn up evidence of Islamists torturing American soldiers and can find only one reference to a 2006 instance in which the bodies of two captured G.I.s showed up "with signs of torture." https://www.theguardian.com/world/2006/jun/21/usa.iraq1 (Yes, Islamists have killed many Americans but there is far less evidence that they have tortured our troops than the profuse evidence that we have tortured their's.)
