A young woman signs into history
Susan B. Anthony is buried in a simple grave at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Rochester, New York. A couple of weeks ago, after Hillary Clinton made history by becoming the first woman to run for president of the United States of America under a major party ticket, the mayor’s office decided to commemorate this piece of history with a letter of thanks to Susan B Anthony. Rochester’s mayor had her own personal reasons for wanting to bring attention to one of the women who fought so very hard for women’s rights, so many years ago:

Dear Susan B.,
We thought you might like to know that for the first time in history, a WOMAN is running for President representing a major party.
144 years ago your illegal vote got you arrested. It took another 48 years for women to finally gain the right to vote.
Thank you for paving the way.
Lovely Warren
The first female mayor of Rochester
Next to the sign was placed a blank “Sign here to add your thanks!” card. As you can see, they needed a lot more paper, Susan B. Anthony is more popular now than she has ever been. And rightly so.
