On Tuesday, Judge Gonzalo Curiel rejected Donald Trump's pretrial bid to win a lawsuit filed in California by onetime Trump University students who say they were defrauded. Curiel wrote that there was a "genuine issue of material fact" as to whether the Republican presidential nominee schemed to defraud the students, and said there's strong evidence that while Trump made it sound as if he handpicked his instructors, he did not actually meet, interview, or choose them. Attorneys for Trump have argued the case should be dismissed because he did participate in crafting the concept and curriculum, but by the time the plaintiffs bought Trump University real estate seminars, it was being managed by others.
