Trump Says Illegals Flooding Across Border... But In Which Direction?

Illegal immigrants lining up...
... to sneak back into Mexico.
(Not really, but read on...)

Alan: Illegal immigration from Mexico into the United States is at a decades-long low. And over the last five years, there has been a net outflow of illegal immigrants from the United States to Mexico.

Even so, hysterical opposition to illegal immigration has become so foundational to the Republican Party that the GOP must maintain its rhetoric on this inflammatory core issue even though Trump's nonsense - widely applauded by The Aggressively Ignorant is diametrically contradicted by "facts on the ground."

However, this perverse determination to be deluded is much more common on the right side of the aisle than the left.

Republican presidential candidate, Pat Buchanan, the living American who has served longest as a White House senior staff adviser, observed: “The Republican philosophy might be summarized thus: To hell with principle; what matters is power, and that we have it, and that they do not.”
“Where the Right Went Wrong"

"Where love rules, there is no will to power,
and where power predominates, love is lacking
The one is the shadow of the other."
