The Republican Rape Advisory Chart
Tracking the Republican Party's Disturbing Obsession with All Things Rape-Related
An Explanation.
The GOP Rape Advisory Chart started as a "dark humor" dig at two things: The Bush Administration's much-derided color-coded Homeland Security Terror Advisory Chart, and the Republican Party's seeming obsession with all things rape-related, which seemed to come to a head with the one-two punch of Missouri Congressman Todd Akin's infamous "Legitimate Rape" comment followed shortly after by Indiana Treasurer Richard Mourdock's "Rape Babies are God's Will" statement. Both men were running for U.S. Senate at the time...and both lost their races, pretty much solely due to their disgusting (and, in Akin's case, scientifically idiotic) statements about the subjects of rape, pregnancy and abortion.
