Alan: Recently, I heard the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra perform this work and came away with the feeling that this is a thoroughly inspired work, with no superfluity or flourish for the sake of flourish.
Every note to the point and in their conjoined "fitness" contribute to a "whole" that is transcendentally good.
