The House Speakership: Republicans Cannibalize One Another

Republican Hero, Jeffrey Dahmer?

Diane Rehm Show,

Unlike your guest who says "we will not have chaos," I see the House of Representatives already in chaos.

Republicans are cannabilizing one another, simultaneously proving that The Tea Party's "too pure principles" are catapulting the GOP "the way of the Whigs."

House conservatives think of themselves as "seers" but have, in fact, been blinded by the light.

Too much of anything is too much.

Compromise is the cornerstone of democracy and the Republican Party's current incarnation is essentially anti-democratic.

In the following video clip of Republican congressmen, Charlie Dent and Dave Brat, notice how Dave Brat justifies his obstructionism by accusing Dent of wanting him to go against his conscience.

American conservatives from -- Dave Brat to Kim Davis -- need to learn that compromise and "going against one's conscience" are as intimately intertwined as Yin/Yang and Lingam/Yoni.

If, in a democratic system (howly imperfectly realized) one is not prepared to participate in cornerstone compromise, one should -- for the sake of minimal political functionality -- get out of politics.

The most important contribution American conservatives can make is to acknowledge their tooth and fang opposition to the rubrics of American governance.

The "Tea Party's" flag-waving rhetoric sounds patriotic but its behavior is betrayal.
