"Unnecessary Wars Overburdened VA." Letter To "The Desert Sun"

Recent Quadruple Amputee Already Dancing Again

***
“Maybe when we go into war, we should be thinking about its consequences and its ramifications. You would think that would be a given, but maybe it wasn’t. And so, we go in a war in Afghanistan, leave Afghanistan for Iraq with unfinished business in Afghanistan. Ten years later, we have all of these additional veterans. In the past five years, two million more veterans needing benefits from the VA. That’s a huge, huge increase... The veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan are going to cost us 4 to 5 trillion dollars.” – Nancy Pelosi
Alan: The fellow who published Pelosi's comments added: "Nancy seems particularly angry that care for the vets is going to allegedly cost the government trillions that it could be spending on vote-buying handouts."  http://patdollard.com/2014/05/pelosi-va-scandal-bushs-fault-for-starting-wars-that-overloaded-system/

Letter to "The Desert Sun"

As disturbing as the latest revelations regarding: care for our veterans seem, it was totally expected that the system became overwhelmed after we got involved in two recent wars and had veterans from Korea and Vietnam out there still needing care. Especially horrible is the high occurrence of psychological damage, amputations on so many young men and women, and the sheer volume of care needed cannot be met by the system.
Again, lay all of that on the doorstep of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Karl Rove, Condoleezza Rice and the entire Bush administration who sent our young, vibrant men and women into Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Bush's Toxic Legacy In Iraq"
When they come back needing care from the system, they have to face the fact that urgent care is not there for them. I hope that a solution can be found. Pity for the Vietnam vets — homeless and forgotten. What a horrible cost from wars that should never have been started.

Alan: As medical science becomes more adept at "bringing people back from death's door," an increasingly disproportionate number vets needing care, need tremendous amounts of it.
