Romney Slips: Calls The United States A "Company"

Rush Limbaugh: "Why are they trying to 'humanize' Romney? For crying out loud. You know, rich people are just poor people with money."
F. Scott Fitzgerald: "Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me. They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft, where we are hard, cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand."

Alan...
nstead of a president who on some level considers the Federal Government a "company," I would rather Obama remind me of The Truth, that without government-sponsored infrastructure and communitarian commitment to The Common Good, none of us could build anything.

During a campaign rally in Florida, Mitt Romney made a Freudian slip and referred to the United States as a company.
Mitt Romney is best known for his private sector background, running the private equity firm,Bain Capital, as their CEO. Romney's time at Bain Capital has come into question and has left many question marks for Romney to deal with leading up to the 2012 presidential election. Mitt Romney often talks about his success at Bain Capital, investing in companies such as Staples and Sports Authority, but for other companies, like GTS Steel, many workers found themselves without a job. Whether you support the work Romney did at Bain Capital or not, it's pretty clear that it sticks with him during his presidential aspirations. While campaigning in Florida, Mitt Romney showed what he really thinks about America.
"Paul Ryan and I understand how the economy works, we understand how Washington works. We will reach across the aisle and find good people who like us, wants to make sure this company deals with its challenges". We'll get America on track again!"
Mitt Romney obviously knows that the United States is a country and not a company, but it's interesting to note what could be on his mind. Conservatives often argue that a business person should be the one who replaces President Obama, but is that really what the country needs? The number one goal of a business and a business person is to make money at all costs. If that means cutting jobs in the process, then the business will do so. The current unemployment rate is 8.3%, far above what is needed to get the economy growing at the pace it needs. While President Obama's polices have led to 4.5 million private sector jobs being created, Republican governors have shown an obsession with austerity, cutting enough public sector jobs to hold the economy back.
Mitt Romney is a business person before anything else, and his "company" slip shows a possible glimpse into how he would run the country. Following the Republican party line, if Mitt Romney is the next president of the United States, more jobs will be cut and the economy will be in even more trouble.
