Widespread Drought Consistent With Global Warming Predictions

Boats sit on the dry, cracked bottom in a dry cove at Morse Reservoir in Noblesville, Ind., Monday, July 16, 2012. The reservoir is down nearly 6 feet from normal levels and being lowered 1 foot every five days to provide water for Indianapolis. The nation’s widest drought in decades is spreading, with more than half of the continental United States now in some stage of drought and most of the rest enduring abnormally dry conditions. - (AP Photo/Michael Conroy)

Scientific findings are probabilistic. And probability "plays out" over long periods of time, with many "exceptions" along the way.
Still, "General Rules" are generally true and shrewd heads align themselves accordingly.
Right now, anthropogenic global warming is changing the face of the earth; raising sea levels, altering precipitation patterns and wreaking havoc on water supplies, agricultural production and coastal civilizations.
Even if the planet passes through a series of cold years, anthropogenic global warming will remain a fact of existence.
The Essential Heresy of contemporary American "Conservatism" is its insistence that New Rules can (and should) be predicated on exceptions rather than scientific reliance on statistical generalizations.
The hardest of hard-noses in the Pentagon and the American military are planning for life-altering upheaval already being caused by global warming - upheaval that will increase over time.
