Why "The God Of Life" Requires "Death Panels"

Many Americans -- particularly Evangelical and Fundamentalist Christians -- confuse the prolongation of death with the prolongation of life.

In the following account (an episode from Bill Gordon's "The Story") a widow tells how this confusion takes root:

(Christian fundamentalist fear-of-death contrasts oddly with the recent conviction of all Christendom that Heaven is the goal and aspiration of life. So certain was the Christian conviction of Heaven that Hamlet refused to kill his murderous uncle while the man was at prayer for fear his soul would go straight to heaven.)
