Alan: When I was growing up in the 1950s, my parents knew smoking was unhealthy .
How can you "smoke" your lungs -- like a fileted salmon -- and insist the result is innocuous?
Of course, these are the same people who refused to wear seat belts because they wanted to be "thrown clear of the car."
And they continually proclaimed this absurdity even though EVERY NASCAR and Formula 1 driver buckles up the instant they get behind the wheel of a "street vehicle."
