Alan: I suspect this "news" will go largely unheeded by the same people who cannot be bothered with a daily walk and adherence to a Mediterrean Diet - or at least "lots of fresh fruits and vegetables" coupled with very little red meat.
Most Americans prefer passive consumption of a prescribed pill to any initiative that requires doing something - or "lifestyle change" as it is often called.
To a significant extent, the "medical community" and the "pharmaceutical industry" are responsible for encouraging the indolence that afflicts Americans with massive amounts of unnecessary morbidity and mortality.
