Alan: Except for Christian "conservatives," nearly everyone knows that Trump is a scam-artist who will say any goddamn thing if it works to his megalomaniac advantage.

The fact that "conservative" "Christians" champion this churl not only impugns their political judgment but spotlights the blind -- and blinding -- role that ersatz "hope" and sola fide faith play in their lives. 

A person's "proclamations" matter much less than how flesh gets put on formulary bones.

It is not enough to proclaim that "Jesus Christ (or Donald Trump) is my Lord and Savior."

Indeed, to the extent that "heroes" are embraced for their "saving grace," blind faith nearly guarantees that Jesus Christ and Donald Trump will not be their saviors although the authoritarian world view of "conservative" "Christians" guarantees that Jesus and The Donald will "lord it over" their psyches in unhealthy, disintegrative ways. 

A noteworthy "aside..."

Although Trump's biography is jammed with behaviors that are anathema to Christians, bible bangers are quick to forgive anyone who proclaims that s/he "is one of them."

 At the same time, the sins, pecadillos and pejorative allegations concerning anyone who is not "saved!" insures that such individuals are granted NO mercy. 

 In fact, according to the odious principle - "extra ecclesiam nulla salus" - anyone who does not parrot the formulary proclamations so dear to the hearts of "Christian" "conservatives" is predestined to eternal immersion in "The Unquenchable Lake of Everlasting Fire."
