Six people died in a shooting when a father opened fire at a home in suburban Houston, ABC News reports. Four of the gunman's children were among the dead.
The suspected shooter surrendered after a three-hour standoff with police Wednesday night. At a morning press conference, authorities identified the suspect as Ron Haskell, 34. He will be charged with multiple counts of capital murder.
"It appears this stems from a domestic issue with a breakup in the family from what our witness has told us," assistant chief deputy constable Mark Herman of the Harris County Precinct 4 said.
Two adults and three children were found dead at the crime scene in the suburb of Spring, authorities said. Another child died after being airlifted to a nearby hospital, officials said. One teenager survived the melee and later identified her father to authorities - warning that he planned to target her grandparents next.
The tragedy brought outpourings of sympathy.
