General Electric Makes It Easier To Kill Iraqis

Dear J,

Thanks for your email.

Let's not forget that Pope Benedict saw no justification for the Iraq War.

"As a Cardinal, the new pope was a staunch critic of the U.S. led invasion of Iraq. On one occasion before the war, he was asked whether it would be just. "Certainly not," he said, and explained that the situation led him to conclude that "the damage would be greater than the values one hopes to save." “All I can do is invite you to read the Catechism, and the conclusion seems obvious to me…” The conclusion is one he gave many times: "the concept of preventive war does not appear in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.""

When Americans opposed to Uncle Sam's warmongering can legally withhold the portion of their tax burden that supports the military -- around 50% - http://www.warresisters.org/pages/piechart.htm -- I will accord similar accommodation to those who oppose abortion (and contraception). They too will be allowed to withhold the proportionate amount of federal tax that helps provide these services, perhaps  0.0000000000000000000000000001% of the federal budget.

As Aquinas pointed out, sin is always accompanied by loss of perspective.

Lamentably, Christians lose perspective whenever sex, gender and reproduction come into play.

Did  I send the following account by Catholic Canon Lawyer, Nicholas Cafardi, who considers Obama more pro-life than Romney? http://ncronline.org/news/politics/which-presidential-candidate-truly-pro-life

Complex moral issues are not as neatly categorizable as "single-issue voters" represent them.

Look. I don't like abortion. Not at all.

On the other hand, an overwhelming majority of Christian conservatives have never seen a war they didn't like.

Speak of the devil...

Here's a good Christian family!

Jesus will be so happy...

Come Judgment Day, anticipate more surprises on "the right side of the aisle" than "the left."

Pax vobiscum (And pass the ammunition - that really big stuff that maximizes the number of dead and maimed Iraqis, you know... the people who had nothing to do with 9/11 nor weapons of mass destruction.)

Alan

PS Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden were ideological enemies, not allies as alleged by Smirk/Snarl.

The A-10 used to be stationed in Myrtle Beach before they closed down the air force base. I would see them flying so low and so slow I wondered how they could stay up. They were dubbed "wart hogs". I had no idea, until I saw this, that the weapon was so huge!

This is the aircraft the "experts" declared obsolete 20 years ago because there was no longer a mission for it!
