Louisiana's Republican
Governor Bobby Jindal has canceled his featured speech at the Republican
National Convention.
Says Jindal: "This storm
like every other storm is non partisan. This is a time when we must all come
together to fight this storm and work hard to protect our property and
families." (This passage begins at the 1:02 mark in the following audio
file.)
What Jindal fails to say - even though it is foundational to what it he does say - is that anthropogenic global warming is a fact and Americans, in non-partisan fashion, "must all come together to fight this storm and work hard to protect our property and families."
Whether or not Hurricane
Isaac is an outcome of global warming is unrelated to the larger fact that
unprecedented storms are "in the pipeline" and it constitutes
reckless endangerment to ignore this fact.
