Alan: Milo Yiannopoulos is the pretentious pseudonym of Milo Hanrahan, who belongs to an ever-expanding "tribe" of "shock jockeys" who --- suddenly lionized for attention-grabbing outrageousness --- parlay the profitability of celebrity into the mere perpetuation of celebrity (a la Kim Kardashian) by being a perpetual asshole.

To maintain his economic foothold, Yiannopoulos - like others of "the type" - tells brazen lies, representing them as "well-known truths."

Evil has been described as "deliberate destructiveness."

If we accept this definition, Yiannopoulos is, in a very real way, satanic even though I believe the standard Christian postulate of Satan as an "autonomous being" is erroneous.

The etymology of Satan is revealing.

Satan derives from the Greek Satanas, by way of the Hebrew satan meaning "adversary or one who plots against another," from satan "to show enmity to, oppose, plot against," from the root s-t-n - "one who opposes, obstructs, or acts as an adversary."

The core commitment of Breitbart News Network (for whom Yiannopoulis works as "technology editor") is to plot against others (just as Republicans plot against Democrats by "opposing" and "obstructing") and to do so by destructive means rather than creative, constructive means.

The particular kind of adversary/obstructionist routinely employed by Breitbart is essentially parasitic, lacking any substantial truth on which to build from within.

Permit me to reveal Yiannopoulos' method by borrowing his own.

I could - had I no conscience - assert that "it is well-known to everyone with rudimentary knowledge of Gaelic that Milo's birth surnamr, "Hanrahan," derives from an ancient Celtic epithet most accurately translated into modern English as "deporable asshole."

Note that not one of my listeners would be able to refute this claim knowledgeably, and so my lie "stands" at least long enough to achieve the primary purpose of "ringing a bell that cannot be un-rung," of "breaking an egg that cannot be un-broken."

And since vanishingly few humans undertake fact-checking, the sort of satanic liar embodied by Yiannopoulos is able to spread his venom as effectively as Hitler did during his rise to power.

Of course, "Hanrahan" does not mean "despicable asshole" in Gaelic although my anecdote spotlights the incontrovertible fact that Yiannopoulos is a deplorable asshole.

It is also true that Yiannopoulis, in his primary role as deplorable asshole typifies the fundamental (and overarching) assholeness of Breitbart and its former head, Donald Trump's chief White House strategist, white supremacist, anti-Semite and wife beater, Steve Bannon.

To which my conservative readers will respond with a yawn... or by vilifying because I told the truth.
