Lindsay Graham Can't Remember Why He Voted Against Sandy Relief Sure Wants Aid For SC

Lindsey Graham, seeking aid for home state, says he can't remember why he voted against Sandy relief

Graham was among the Republican senators who opposed a federal aid package in January 2013 to assist states hit by Hurricane Sandy, but now he doesn't remember why.
"I'm all for helping the people in New Jersey. I don't really remember me voting that way," Graham said.
Pressed further, he said: "Anyway, I don't really recall that, but I'd be glad to look and tell you why I did vote no, if I did."
There is something about disasters that brings out the absolute worst—or really, the absolute truth—about Republican ideology. If it happens to their own state or district, they run straight to Washington to ask for help. If it happens somewhere else, though, fuck 'em—they're on they're own.
Republicans should be embarrassed both by their inhumanity toward their fellow citizens and the shameless reversals they readily make whenever their own constituents are in need, but they never will be. This is all part of a long tradition of naked hypocrisy that's coded deep into the GOP DNA. Hell, in the same CNN interview quoted above, Graham even called himself a "pretty kind-hearted fellow" and tried to erase his vote against relief from memory. That's quite the display of chutzpah, but again, that's a trait Republicans have never lacked.
Lindsay got that one right!
