Why People Would Rather Kill Than Think

Dear K,

I do not know why YouTube "Comments" were turned off on Peled's talk but, in light of the 100-0 Senate vote in favor of Israel's invasion of Gaza, I would venture it's due to the foul-mouthed outrage expressed by commentators. (Lest we forget... The Senate is the "sane" chamber in our bicameral system.)

"Thinking" -- especially thinking "against the current" -- is painful. People will do nearly anything to avoid it.

"People Would Rather Get Electric Shock Than Think"

Although we Americans are very generous people, we often "give" in reflexive, thoughtless ways.  (It is sometimes said that "a philanthropist is someone who gives away what s/he should give back.")

Thoughtlessness -- and the compensatory suck-tit comforts of "The Official Story" -- are NOT to be challenged without explosive blowback.

Alan: I fact-checked the above chart and found only slight discrepancies.

Alan:  Question related to this presentation and posting--would you know or surmise why the 'comments' were turned off for this?

Dear Fred,

I encourage you to watch the following talk by Miko Peled.

"Miko Peled, Son Of Top Israeli General, Tells The Story Of Palestine's Occupation"

If this presentation does not change your mind, I hope to learn why.

A small but significant point...

At the 106:25 mark (very near the end of the Q&A) Peled is disarmingly frank in his description of American realpolitik. Although I encourage you to listen to Peled's entire comment on this topic, it distills to this: 'If you want to have a career in national American politics, you have to express personal support for Zionism."

That said -- and although Peled considers Israel the foremost terror state in the world -- the fact of American realpolitik does not bother him.

Official support for Zionism is "what The System currently requires" and railing against this requirement is, on balance, a distraction from the work of building a popular movement.

Pax on both houses,

Alan

PS Near the beginning of Peled's talk, "the general's son" expresses the view that King David was not the historical person we commonly assume. Since this assertion may be a stumbling block for you, here is a useful summary of King David's "role" from "Jewish Virtual Library."  http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/davidjer.html
