In my youth, it was frequently said that "everything contains the seeds of its own destruction."

Against this backdrop -- and pondering "the browning of America" from the conservative point of view -- what could have been stupider than importing slaves?

When I contemplate the pending collapse of American "conservatism" I see these neo-barbarians hoist on its own petard.

American conservatives were as wrong about slavery (from their own point of view) as they are about almost everything.

Time will reveal them as being equally benighted about nearly everything else.
