Coral Reefs: Before and After

Last week at a garden party, I spoke with 50 year old marine biologist who moved to Florida in the 1980s. When he first relocated to The Sunshine State, 85% of the state's reefs were considered healthy. 

That number is now down to 6%. (No typo.) 

For fifteen years I have guided travelers in, under and around the Yucatan peninsula.

The two photos above recall the very changes I have seen in that brief period.
